Holiday Cards – Day 1

By | Cards | No Comments

Hi All,

Welcome back! As you may have known, I’ve been on quite the holiday card kick. I spent the last few posts working on cards for Merry Making for Online Card Classes. Now, I am onto a new series! I’m excited to say for the first year, I will be creating 25 posts (that’s 3 posts a week) that will lead us all the way up to Christmas 2017! Each week I will be posting up new projects every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

For this card, I wanted to focus on the very simple concept of background inking. I have a plethora of 6×6 Christmas cardstock and decided to flip through them all and pull out a bunch of sheet music themed papers. As you will see in the video below, I ended up with quite a stack.

The papers are from the following collections:

Old World Winter – The Paper Studio
HS01073 – Heidi Swapp
Noel – American Crafts (I pulled these patterns in the video, but didn’t end up using them)

I used a single cube of Distress Ink in Vintage Photo to ink the sheets so that they coordinated better. To finish off the card I added some red bakers twine and some simple American Crafts embellishments.

This set coordinates well with a kraft envelope and can be gifted as a set, or sent out individually.

Here’s a video on how it was all created.

Here’s a closer look at the finished cards.

Jewelry Storage and Organization Idea

By | Craftroom Storage, Room Decor | No Comments

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all are having a wonderful week! I’ve been working away on some big and little projects I have lined up for the upcoming weeks! But first I wanted to share a quick little organization piece I made the other day.

Firstly, I have several configuration boxes that are in need of a purpose. You may recall I have done a Christmas themed one and a washi tape organizer with another one. This round I decided to take one of your suggestions and make a jewelry organizer/display!

I used my go-to spray paint in heirloom white. I also grabbed some handpainted paper (check it out in the boxes that aren’t woodgrain). The tone on tone look is so sophisticated! Lastly, I tied gold thread to each box – I chose string instead of hooks to maximize the amount this beauty can hold.

Here’s the finished piece. How gorgeous is this?! Now, since this was a follower’s suggestion – it’s up for sale. I am so excited to be able to ship this off to one of you to enjoy! If interested, check out my Etsy shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/JolieSamuel

Have an awesome day friends and thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Giftcard Holders

By | Cards, Planner Stationary & Accessories | No Comments

Hi All,

Today’s post may not be entirely new to some of my readers (I posted a picture of a box of these on my facebook page earlier this fall). These lil’ pockets will hold the average size giftcard and has a flap that folds over to keep contents in. I think they are pretty darling and look totally vintage.

I will be selling these in variety packs at an upcoming craft fair and will have them up on etsy for any who are interested in having an elegant addition to their holiday gifts.

Holiday Cards – Classic and Elegant

By | Cards | No Comments

Hi all,

I’m back with another card for the online card class. Today’s theme is to focus on cards that are classic and elegant. There were so many variations of cards today. It was interesting to see how each designer envisions classic and elegant.

For this card I wanted to try a version of a card created by one of the guest designers.

First I sketched out the design of an ornament.

For this card I needed many small shaped stamps. Here are a few that I pulled from my stash.

I slowly began stamping and filling in my sketch. Here’s the finished project!

I also enjoyed a card made to look vintage and classic and wanted to try that version of cards as well.

I love that this class makes me think outside the box and create cards using schemes that normally wouldn’t occur to me. Super fun!
