Birthday Balloons with Iron-Off Technique

I’m back with another card featuring the use of heat embossing. As I’ve been taking on the HeatWave class over at OnlineCardClasses and have been enjoying breaking out these powders for some fun takes on cards. For this

For this card, I wanted to use the iron-off technique as an alternative method in masking off my stamping. I first stamped the images I wanted to be in the foreground and then added a clear embossing over them. Then, I continued stamping my image being sure to overlap the embossed images. Since the embossing powder is sleek it resists ink and therefore made the second set of stamped images look like they are behind the first. To remove ink off of the clear embossed images I simply used a baby wipe and cleaned off as much ink as I could.

To iron-off the embossing powder, I sandwiched my project between a towel and a piece of paper. As I ironed over my project the embossing powder melts itself again and sticks to the scrap paper rather and removes itself entirely from the project. This leaves just the stamping and vibrant colors to show.

I love this technique in that it is an easy method at masking and is pretty precise at it as well. To finish the project off I added some detailed stamping and trimmed down my stamped piece.

Love You – Faux Embossing

We are well into the first week of Clean & Simple 4 and I am in LOVE with this class. There are so many techniques taught daily & many of them are entirely new to me. I love it! Today’s class featured a technique in faux embossing (which almost looks like reverse letterpress in my opinion). For this card I used a sentiment from Silhouette Studio and re-worked it a bit to fit the theme of the card. For the background I chose white-on-white and only have 1 layer of card stock for the sentiment. For the teal parts I stacked 3 layers of card stock so that it would pop off the page.  I love that it almost casts a shadow with so many layers.

The sentiment should read: Love you – Always Have Always Will.

Holiday Cards 2014 – Day 13

Welcome to Day 13!

I’m back with another look of gold foil on a greeting card. I love how it brightens up these ‘flat’ patterns and gives a whole lot of dimension to the card. To achieve the gold foil look on the sentiment I heat embossed the sentiment with Glam Gold embossing powder.

Cardstock: Recollections Bkack 8.5 x 11 (cut to create A2 size card)

Embossing: Versamark Ink & Inkadinkado – Glam Gold powder

Holiday Cards 2014 – Day 3

Welcome to day 3 of my Holiday Card Series 2014!

This card is created in a similar fashion to yesterday’s tree card. This time instead of a tree design I simply created a reindeer cut-out shape. Next, I added a red offset to each of the cuts. Same concept as yesterday but a completely different look!

For the reindeer I heat embossed the green color using a pearl emerald color. Can you tell it isn’t as ‘flat’ as the papers? That’s my trick to making him stand out 😉
