Creating a Tribal Pattern Using Heat Embossing

By Cards

Tribal-Card

Hi everyone!

I’m back with an all new card and video to share with you today. This card is very simple but packs quite a punch with the amount of gold and shimmer it has. I used some stamp making paper and a ruler to create some triangle shapes and cut them out to create this pattern on the background. I then used one of my favorite embossing powders (Ranger Liquid Platinum), and heat embossed the entire panel. What gorgeous results?! To finish the card I used this elegant card from project life.

Here’s how it all came together.

Supplies:

Cardstock: Bazzil Basics

Embossing Powder: Ranger Liquid Platinum

Masking: Inkadinkado Stamp Masking Paper

Watercolor Brush Techniques and Washes – Part 2

By Cards

Hi all,

I’m by no means advanced in the realm of watercolor, but I thought it would be a great place to start and give myself a bit of a challenge.

Today’s lesson was JAM PACKED with more ideas on brush techniques and washes. I wanted to try my hands at some leaves and the wet-to-wet technique. I wet the paper in a leaf shape and then used wet pigment to drop in the color. Here I used Prussian Blue and Yellow Green from my Sakura Koi set. I used variations of the colors to achieve different leaves each time around.

This was my result.

Here’s a closer look at all the variations of color. Again, I’m pretty much a beginner with watercolors and just playing with the medium. I’m hoping to incorporate more washes and techniques into future cardmaking.

Holiday Cards – Classic and Elegant

By Cards

Hi all,

I’m back with another card for the online card class. Today’s theme is to focus on cards that are classic and elegant. There were so many variations of cards today. It was interesting to see how each designer envisions classic and elegant.

For this card I wanted to try a version of a card created by one of the guest designers.

First I sketched out the design of an ornament.

For this card I needed many small shaped stamps. Here are a few that I pulled from my stash.

I slowly began stamping and filling in my sketch. Here’s the finished project!

I also enjoyed a card made to look vintage and classic and wanted to try that version of cards as well.

I love that this class makes me think outside the box and create cards using schemes that normally wouldn’t occur to me. Super fun!
