Washi Tape Craftroom Storage Idea

By Craftroom Storage, Room Decor

Hi Friends!

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I recently changed up my entire office space. I gave it a fresh coat of paint, some new fabrics and drapes & changed out containers to better suite the space. Throughout the process, I’ve been trying to find unique pieces to create storage. I’m a huge fan of thrift store finds and was on the lookout for some pieces for my space or future projects!

I found two items on 2 different occasions.

First, I found an old ornate looking shelf. \\click here to read that post\\

A few months later, I found a box that looked alot like a letter type box or a configuration box. I’m not entirely sure what its intended purpose was.

I designed a Christmas configuration box a while ago and thought maybe this piece could function in a similar way. \\Click here to view the configuration box I made for Christmas.\\

As I was reorganizing this week, I figured it was time to get this piece painted. I grabbed a can of my all time favorite spray paint by American Accents and gave the piece a couple coats of spray paint. Immediately I thought of a FANTASTIC purpose for the piece. “I wonder if this would fit a roll of tape,” I thought.

Guess what? It totally does! These tapes used to take up 3 jars in my space. How crazy is that?!

Oh, my crafty heart!

I decided to pair the piece up with my other shelf.

I can’t believe how fantastic these two pieces turned out! Seriously friends, if you haven’t checked out your local thrift store for some awesome storage finds…you should! Keep in mind that a fresh coat of paint can change an entire piece!

DIY ‘Anthropologie’ Globe

By Room Decor

Hi friends!

Check out this amazing DIY!

Globe-Combo

Anthropologie sells some seriously gorgeous hand-painted globes. Although absolutely stunning, they came with a pretty steep price tag. I’m sure the quality was top notch as most Anthropologie items are, however, being the DIYer that I am I wanted to create my own.

Here’s what I did.

Globe-Packaging-1

I purchased a little globe (I have a little shelf I wanted to display this on). This one doubles as a pencil sharpener.

Globe-Peeling-complete

I did a little inspection on how the globe was created and found the paper could easily be removed.

Painting-Prep

I separated the pieces and gave them a couple coats of my favorite spray paints.

Ahhh, now we’re in business! Now to decorate.

Here’s the finished piece next to the piece Anthropologie made. I used my silhouette to create a sentiment and some of my favorite floral stamps for some foliage.

Helpful Hint: If you want to achieve crisp lettering use die-cuts or a gold paint pen with a steady hand!

Color War Inspired Card

By Cards

Hey Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and enjoying a few good moments of quality r&r. I’ve been enjoying some quality time with friends, family and the great outdoors. I’ve even spent a good amount of time in the craft room working on projects and filmed a room tour (that still needs to be edited) for you all!

Also, if you’re interested in seeing daily posts about what’s happening in the craftroom then feel free to come join the crafty community over on instagram (jolie_samuel).

Anyway, on to today’s card. Before Pinterest and all these online resources for inspiration hit, I kept a notebook of random images or color schemes that I thought were fun or could potential make a spark a ‘creative jumpstart’ towards making a crafty project. This week I’ve dug out that book and found a page that immediately gave me a “hmmmm” moment. I took that as a challenge and came up with a card (okay, maybe three cards) to share with you today. I know what you’re thinking. A car ad inspired you to make a card!? Yes, absolutely!

I’d love to tell you how I created it, but i’d rather show you. So here’s a video of the entire process. Enjoy.

Here’s a finished set of the balloon cards.

BONUS VIDEO: I made a second card using the same inks & same ad.

How fun is this card!?
