Holiday Cards 2014 – Day 4

By Cards

Hi All,

Welcome to Day 4!

holiday_wishes

Today’s card was entirely handmade/painted. I’ve seen many cards created in a similar fashion using holiday stamps, however, I don’t own any big wreath stamp sets. Instead, I used Tim Holtz distress markers which react with water to create a watercolor type feel. I love the control you get from using a blending ink rather than actual paint.

For ideas on how this was created, stay tuned for tomorrow’s post. It uses the same concept, but I have a different image to share! 😉

See you next time and have a great weekend!

Handmade Flowers For Handmade Wreaths

By Room Decor

Hey all,

As promised I’m here today with an entirely new project. It’s something a little outside the norm but entirely handmade. As many of you may know, yarn wreaths are totally ‘in’ right now. You can surf through Pinterest and find hundreds of different styles and techniques to making a nice big wreath for your front door or home decor. But there are absolutely no posts (or should i say ‘pins’) on making them miniature. I wanted to make some small ones that could be used to decorate smaller knick-knacks around the house.

I made a quick trip to our local craft store for some yarn and felt…and got to work. Here’s the finished project!

I experimented with some stiff felt to create the flowers you see here. Also, I love to distress things and inked up some of the flowers for a more vintage look (yes they were all originally white)!

Here’s another look at those flowers.

And guess what? I just may have a few extras too.

I’ve got more projects lined up to share with you tomorrow. See you then! =)

Online Card Class – Day 5

By Cards

onlinecardclass

Hi all,

We so we’ve officially completed a week of online card class and I think it was jam packed with awesomeness. Today’s focus was on stretching stamps in a way that is a little different then it’s initial use or changing the center focus of the stamp. I decided to look into my Christmas stamps and see if any of them could double for something else. The wreath here is from my Christmas Sentiments stamp set, but with a change in color – it looks very bright.

Here is my card:
