Online Card Class – Day 9

By Cards

onlinecardclass

Hi all,

We’re on day 9 and I am blown away by the cards presented in today’s class. Jennifer McGuire introduced me to the world of pleated cards and I just had to try out the technique for myself. I think this card is by far my favorite for the week and I am so excited to adapt it to a project I am working on for the upcoming month.

Here is my card and new technique demonstrated for day 9:

For today’s Masculine card I wanted to create a cards using “Thinking of you” as a sentiment and products that would stretch to both of projects. For both cards I used Embossing folders, washi tape, my circle cutter and papers from My Minds Eye.

Stamps: Studio G : Thinking of You/ Miss You So

Card 2: Thinking of You

His&Hers Brainstorming!

Hi all,

I’m so excited to have started another Online Card Class. This time around I am a participating in a class called His & Hers. Generally speaking, I feel that masculine cards are one of the most difficult types of cards to make. Most vendors/suppliers sell products that are totally geared towards feminine interests. I think this class will provide some great insight on creating complementary cards as well as bring my attention to products that can be multi-functional in a masculine card.

For Day 1 we are focusing what types of materials/colors we feel are masculine vs feminine. We were asked to fill out a little chart and share what we felt were feminine vs. masculine themes. I took it one step further by adding punching out some tags using scrap material of patterns and colors I thought represented each individual category.

Pattern Play – Card 3

Hi all,

We’re on to day 2 and card 3 of Pattern Play. Today’s project concept is to use a stamping technique on patterned paper. I found it really interesting that one of the instructors stamped her image and then clear embossed it so the stamp would resist all inking done to the paper. I played on that concept a bit and came up with my take on the lesson.

Here it is:

Beautiful_withBanner

As you can see, right below the word banner I clear embossed a stamped image and then inked the paper orange and blue. The stamped image resisted the ink and just pops out. The paper now looks more antiqued and aged. The original paper was a simple diamond pattern on cream colored paper.

Supplies:

Card Base: American Crafts cardstock

Papers: My Minds Eye – All Spice

Banner: Basic Grey – pb&j

Ink: Versamark clear, Tim Holtz distress inks

Stamp: Hampton Arts
